Senior Marine Underwriter

About the role

NTI is looking for a Senior Marine Underwriter for its Melbourne office. Reporting to the Underwriting Operations Manager, you will support the Marine business by ensuring profitable pricing of risks and identifying growth opportunities, focusing on Marine Cargo products. The position is full time.

Key responsibilities

• Manage renewals, endorsements and new business opportunities to meet financial targets
• Build expertise on underwriting issues across the portfolio
• Ensure implementation and compliance of the underwriting strategy, risk appetite, licence authorities, risk controls, systems and procedures
• Ensure adherence to underwriting guidelines, business plans, priorities and processes
• Take part in pricing and policy negotiations with the Business Development team
• Develop and maintain relationships with intermediaries and customers, and promote NTI's market profile

Required profile

• At least three years of experience as an experienced Marine Underwriter
• Deep connections throughout the industry, broker markets and other relevant bodies
• Exceptional communication skills and the ability to build trust with internal and external stakeholders
• Ability to negotiate priorities and set and manage delivery expectations

Required skills

• Working knowledge of the marine industry and understanding of relevant legislation (highly desirable)
• Enthusiasm for organisational agility and continuous business improvement
