Senior Accountant - SAP S/4HANA Migration

About the role

A major Australian retail group, represented by its recruiter, is looking for a driven, detail-focused Senior Accountant for a 12-month contract within its Asset Management team. Reporting to the Senior Manager, you will be central to a finance transformation program: keeping the capital-related general ledger accurate while the business moves to SAP S/4HANA and transitions work to an offshore delivery team. The role suits someone who enjoys systems, data and process change and wants hands-on experience of an ERP go-live. It is a fixed-term contract available in Sydney, Melbourne or Adelaide.

Key responsibilities

• Migrate capital and fixed asset data from the current system (Great Plains / Dynamics 365) into SAP S/4HANA, ensuring data integrity and ledger matching
• Drive the user acceptance testing (UAT) program, including script development and execution, and resolve data variances and mapping issues
• Oversee month-end journals, reconciliations and P&L / balance sheet consolidations
• Map capital purchase and asset accounting processes in the new ERP, including SOPs and control frameworks
• Act as onshore mentor to the offshore team, delivering structured training and knowledge transfer
• Support half-year and full-year external audit requirements

Required profile

• CA, CPA or CIMA qualified (or equivalent)
• 5+ years' experience in finance, shared services or global business services
• Experience in an ERP implementation, including UAT and data migration
• Experience in an offshore or outsourced shared services delivery model is highly desirable

Required skills

• Hands-on experience with SAP S/4HANA, Great Plains or Dynamics 365
• Strong knowledge of capital and fixed asset accounting
• Process improvement and documenting SOPs
