Senior Manager, Op Risk - Products & Deposits

About the role

This senior position provides second‑line operational risk oversight, challenge and advice across products and deposits within Business & Private Banking at ANZ. The role requires deep knowledge of banking products, deposit operations and the associated control environment, while being able to shift between detailed risk reviews and broader portfolio insights.

Key responsibilities

• Lead second‑line review and challenge of product and deposit risks, controls, issues, incidents, risk acceptances and remediation plans.
• Perform risk‑based reviews of product and deposit processes, including population analysis, sampling, evidence testing and clear documentation of findings.
• Assess design and operation of controls, ensuring they are appropriately evidenced and aligned to the risks they manage.
• Challenge product risk assessments, control assessments, issue ratings, root‑cause analysis and closure evidence where the risk position is not supported.
• Identify customer, regulatory and operational exposure across account opening, maintenance, servicing, fees, complaints, product changes and closure processes.
• Review risk impacts from product simplification, migrations, system changes, process redesign and manual work‑arounds.
• Use data, events, complaints, incidents, control metrics, audit findings and sampling outcomes to spot systemic themes and emerging risks.
• Prepare clear risk opinions and governance input that set out exposure, evidence, challenge and required actions.
• Partner with risk, product, operations, technology, compliance and remediation teams to form an end‑to‑end view of risk.
• Support capability uplift across the team by sharing practical methods for risk reviews, control testing, sampling and risk articulation.

Required profile

• Strong operational risk, compliance, audit, assurance or product risk experience in banking or another regulated financial services environment.
• Ability to move between detailed risk review work and broader portfolio insight, with sufficient subject‑matter expertise to challenge first‑line activities.
• Experience analysing product and deposit processes, identifying control gaps and driving remediation.
