Senior LV / Controls Engineer

About the role

KBR is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Low Voltage and Controls Engineer to join its Electrical Engineering & Consulting team in Sydney. The role will lead technical delivery of LV distribution and control system designs across transport, water and other infrastructure projects.

Key responsibilities

• Lead design and delivery of LV electrical distribution and customised control systems, focusing on transport and water sectors.
• Design Motor Control Centres (MCC), Local Control Panels (LCP), pump control and shore supply control systems with interlocking, power transfer and sequence logic.
• Perform LV calculations, cable sizing, protection coordination and system modelling using industry‑standard software.
• Prepare technical specifications, single‑line diagrams, control schematics, wiring diagrams and functional design specifications.
• Ensure compliance with Australian Standards (AS/NZS 3000, 61439, 3008) and client‑specific standards such as TfNSW and Sydney Water.
• Collaborate with civil, mechanical, SCADA/Instrumentation and process engineers, as well as clients and contractors.
• Mentor junior engineers and conduct design reviews to maintain quality.

Required profile

• Proven experience in LV electrical and control system engineering within infrastructure, transport or water sectors.
• Strong background in MCC, LCP layout, hard‑wired control schematics, relay logic and interlocks.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) and CPEng accreditation or eligibility with Engineers Australia.
• Hands‑on experience with pump control (duty/standby, VFD/soft starter) and shore supply control solutions.
