Senior Legal Writer – Consumer Law

About the role

We are looking for an experienced lawyer with a strong background in Australian consumer law to create and maintain practical, plain‑English legal content. This permanent, hybrid position lets you apply your legal expertise at scale while working with cutting‑edge AI‑enabled research tools.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, review and update consumer‑law guidance for Practical Guidance, ensuring accuracy and relevance.
• Use AI‑powered drafting and research tools to improve speed, consistency and usability of content.
• Collaborate with technology, product and editorial teams to embed legal expertise into AI‑driven solutions.
• Monitor market developments and emerging trends to keep content current.
• Support brand awareness and influence market share among clients and stakeholders.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years post‑qualification experience (PQE) in an Australian mid‑to‑top‑tier law firm or in‑house counsel role.
• Demonstrated practice in consumer‑law matters.
• Excellent communication and plain‑English writing abilities.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and organisational skills.
• Ability to build relationships with diverse clients and stakeholders.

Required skills

• Experience with AI‑assisted legal research tools (desirable).
