About the role
The Office of the Queensland Integrity Commissioner is seeking a Senior Legal Officer and Integrity Advisor (PO5) to provide high‑quality legal advice and support the development of ethical standards across the public sector. This role offers the chance to influence integrity and accountability in Queensland government.
Key responsibilities
- Provide clear, concise legal advice on legislative interpretation, administrative law and issues arising under the Integrity Act 2009.
- Prepare draft advice on ethics, integrity and conflict‑of‑interest matters for designated persons.
- Support statutory functions related to the Queensland Lobbying Register, including assessing applications, drafting compliance and show‑cause notices, and assisting with regulatory actions.
- Draft and review plain‑English fact sheets, website content, briefing notes, submissions and correspondence for effective stakeholder communication.
- Identify potential amendments to legislation, standards, codes and policies to align with the Integrity Act.
- Assist in developing and delivering educational resources and training to raise awareness of the Commissioner's role.
- Undertake special projects to improve internal processes and office governance.
- Provide guidance and support to junior legal officers, fostering a collaborative team environment.
Required profile
- Law degree from a recognised tertiary institution.
- Admission or eligibility for immediate admission as a legal practitioner in Queensland.
- Willingness to undergo criminal history checks and disclose any serious disciplinary action in accordance with the Public Sector Act.
