Senior Lecturer in Economics and Econometrics

About the role

The University of Melbourne invites a senior academic to lead high‑quality research and teaching in economics or econometrics within a world‑leading department. You will inspire students, supervise researchers and shape innovative curricula.

Key responsibilities

• Produce internationally recognised research and secure external funding.
• Deliver high‑quality teaching across undergraduate, honours and graduate programmes.
• Supervise and mentor honours, masters and PhD students.
• Provide academic leadership through curriculum innovation and departmental governance.
• Engage with government, industry and community partners to translate research into policy.

Required profile

• PhD in economics, econometrics or a closely related discipline completed by commencement.
• Strong, sustained research record with publications in leading peer‑reviewed journals.
• Demonstrated ability to teach specialist and core economics/econometrics subjects.
• Track record of securing competitive research funding or strong potential to do so.
• Experience supervising honours, masters and PhD students.
• Willingness to contribute to departmental leadership, service and external engagement.
