Senior / Lead Mechanical Engineer - Mining Projects

About the role

DRA Global, an international engineering, project delivery and operations management group focused on mining, minerals and metals, is looking for an experienced Lead or Senior Mechanical Engineer in Perth. You will lead the detailed design, development and optimisation of mechanical systems and equipment across a diverse project portfolio, from concept through to commissioning.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the detailed design of mechanical systems such as conveyors, crushers, mills, pumps and bulk materials handling systems.
• Prepare and review engineering calculations, technical specifications, datasheets and design documentation.
• Develop and review engineering drawings in line with project requirements, Australian Standards and industry codes.
• Perform mechanical analysis and use engineering software to improve safety, reliability and cost-effectiveness.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and engage with clients and stakeholders to resolve technical issues.
• Take part in design reviews, peer reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support equipment procurement, including technical bid evaluation and vendor selection, and review vendor documentation.
• Identify and manage technical and project risks, and deliver outcomes within budget, schedule, quality and safety objectives.
• Provide technical support during construction, commissioning and operation, and help improve engineering standards and procedures.

Required profile

• Degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 8 years' experience in detailed design engineering on mining and mineral processing projects.
• Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and experience designing and specifying mechanical equipment.
• Sound knowledge of Australian Standards, regulations and industry codes.
• Proven analytical and problem-solving skills, and strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary project teams; experience supporting construction, commissioning and operation is highly desirable.
