Senior Infrastructure Engineer – OpenShift

About the role

The Federal Government is seeking an experienced Senior Infrastructure Engineer to manage and optimise enterprise‑scale Red Hat OpenShift environments. You will ensure platform availability, stability, security and performance while collaborating with infrastructure, security, application and engineering teams.

Key responsibilities

• Administer, configure and maintain enterprise‑scale Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform environments, ensuring high availability and operational resilience.
• Manage platform lifecycle activities including installation, upgrades, patching, configuration changes and ongoing maintenance.
• Monitor health, capacity and performance, proactively identifying and resolving issues.
• Troubleshoot complex OpenShift and Kubernetes infrastructure problems across networking, storage, compute, authentication and certificates.
• Design, deploy and manage Kubernetes and OpenShift clusters to support scalable, secure enterprise applications.
• Develop automation solutions using Ansible, Terraform, Helm, GitOps and Infrastructure as Code practices.
• Support developers with containerised application deployments, scaling and management through CI/CD pipelines.
• Implement platform security best practices, including vulnerability management, network segmentation, RBAC and secure configuration.

Required profile

• Minimum 5+ years of systems administration experience, including OpenShift or Kubernetes cluster administration.
• Experience working in large‑scale, multi‑architecture enterprise environments, preferably within Australian Government or highly regulated sectors.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills, able to mentor junior engineers and lead technical initiatives.
• NV1 security clearance required prior to commencement.

• Monitoring, logging, alerting and performance optimisation.
