Senior Highways Engineer – Road and Infrastructure

About the role

Arup is seeking a Senior Highways Engineer to lead multidisciplinary road and highway projects, working autonomously and collaborating with designers, drafters, clients and government agencies.

Key responsibilities

• Lead project and design management activities for road, active transport, pavement, lighting, ITS, service conflict and drainage design.
• Prepare and manage technical analysis, documentation and quality checks for road design deliverables.
• Engage directly with clients, contractors and agencies to develop designs, win work and ensure compliance with project requirements.
• Mentor and coordinate engineers, designers and drafters within project teams.

Required profile

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering with Chartered membership (Engineers Australia) desirable.
• Proven track record in highway and road design from planning through detailed design.
• Ability to manage multidisciplinary teams, project scope, programme, fee, profitability and change control.
• Strong communication, planning and organisational skills with client‑facing experience.

Required skills

• Experience with road design software such as OpenRoads Designer, 12d, Civil 3D or equivalent.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
• Extensive knowledge of Austroads design guides, Main Roads WA supplements and related standards.
