Senior Group Accountant

About the role

Pacific Energy, an Australian renewable energy company, is looking for a Senior Group Accountant to join its Finance team in Perth. Reporting to the Group Finance function, the role covers accurate financial reporting, strong financial controls and technical accounting support across the business, including financial and management reporting, governance, compliance, budgeting and process improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Lead group month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations and monthly Board and executive reporting
• Prepare annual consolidated financial statements and support statutory reporting under accounting standards
• Prepare quarterly financial reporting and analysis for equity holders
• Prepare technical accounting papers and advise on accounting matters and new standards
• Coordinate internal and external audit activities
• Support group budgets, forecasts and reforecasts
• Develop, maintain and improve accounting policies, financial controls and reporting processes
• Ensure the integrity of financial master data, reporting structures and ERP controls
• Partner with stakeholders on financial reporting, governance and compliance, and mentor junior finance team members

Required profile

• Degree in Accounting, Commerce, Finance or a related discipline
• CA or CPA qualification
• 5+ years in financial accounting, audit, advisory or a similar role; commercial experience highly regarded, first-time movers from Big 4 encouraged to apply
• Permanent and unrestricted working rights in Australia

Required skills

• Technical accounting, statutory reporting, consolidations, budgeting and forecasting
• Knowledge of internal controls, governance frameworks and accounting policies
• Advanced Microsoft Excel; exposure to BI tools highly regarded
