Senior Finance Officer - Accounts Payable and Receivable

About the role

A public-sector organisation in Canberra is looking for an experienced Senior Finance Officer to join its finance operations team, handling accounts payable and receivable. The position is advertised as a labour-hire arrangement for 3 months (extension to be confirmed) at an indicative rate of $57.21 per hour plus superannuation.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and process a high volume of accounts payable transactions accurately and efficiently.
• Maintain accurate financial information and ensure timely processing and resolution of enquiries.
• Respond to internal and external stakeholder enquiries with professional, customer-focused support.
• Ensure all financial processing complies with policies, procedures, guidelines and legislative requirements.
• Identify and resolve issues within finance processing workflows.
• Work collaboratively with team members and build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and help colleagues share knowledge.
• Manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in a high-volume accounts payable environment.
• Strong understanding of accounts payable processes and financial operations.
• Willingness to undergo a police check and obtain baseline clearance.
• Ability to respond to selection criteria questions.

Required skills

• Experience with financial processing systems such as Oracle R12, Converga P2P, WBC Corporate Online or similar.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills.
• Good understanding of finance procedures, compliance requirements and legislation.
• Attention to detail, numerical and analytical skills, and strong organisational skills.
