Senior Farm Hand - Cropping & Sheep

About the role

A family-owned mixed farming enterprise in Broomehill, WA, is looking for a Senior Farm Hand to join its small, capable team. The role focuses mainly on the cropping enterprise (about 70% of the operation) and assists with the Merino sheep operation during busy periods. It suits someone who wants to become a long-term team member and take on genuine responsibility.

Key responsibilities

• Seeding, spraying and harvesting operations
• Operating modern broadacre cropping equipment
• Machinery servicing, maintenance and troubleshooting
• Supporting the Merino sheep enterprise during peak periods
• Implementing spray programs and assisting with agronomic decisions
• Maintaining accurate records and assisting with seasonal planning and reporting
• Supervising casual and seasonal staff when required
• General farm maintenance and improvement projects

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Senior Farm Hand or similar
• Strong broadacre cropping background
• Self-propelled spraying experience
• Chemical handling and agronomy knowledge
• Strong mechanical and problem-solving skills
• Good communication and record-keeping ability
• Positive attitude and willingness to be part of a long-term team
• Own tools

Required skills

• Confidence operating a wide range of modern machinery (John Deere, New Holland, Rogator, Massey Ferguson)
• MC Truck licence highly regarded
• ChemCert and forklift ticket advantageous but not essential
