Senior Family Lawyer – Path to Partnership

About the role

Tonkin Legal Group, a leading suburban law firm in Melbourne, is seeking a Senior Associate to lead and grow its Family Law practice. The role offers a genuine pathway to partnership for a lawyer with a strong reputation and client base.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full lifecycle of family law matters, from initial client contact through to settlement.
• Develop and maintain referral relationships and generate new business to expand the practice.
• Mentor junior lawyers and contribute to the firm’s strategic development.

Required profile

• 5+ years post‑admission experience (or equivalent) in family law.
• Proven commercial mindset with an established client following and referral network.
• Leadership experience and interest in mentoring junior staff.

Required skills

• Strong technical expertise in family law, including advocacy, negotiation and drafting.
• Knowledge of wills and estates law is desirable.
