Senior Events & Festivals Officer – Operations

About the role

The Senior Events & Festivals Officer – Operations will lead the planning, coordination and delivery of a wide range of city events, from major public celebrations to multicultural festivals. Reporting to the City Lifestyle team, you will ensure each event meets high standards of safety, compliance and community engagement.

Key responsibilities

• Direct end‑to‑end event operations, from concept through post‑event evaluation, ensuring compliance with risk, safety and emergency regulations.
• Conduct risk assessments, develop safety protocols and emergency response plans, and maintain comprehensive documentation.
• Manage the permitting process, oversee on‑site logistics, coordinate vendors and enforce safety measures.
• Engage internal departments, external vendors, emergency services and community partners to achieve event objectives.
• Produce post‑event reports, capture lessons learned and drive continuous improvement for future events.

Required profile

• Strong problem‑solving ability and independent judgment within legislative and budgetary frameworks.
• Extensive knowledge of statutory and regulatory compliance for public events.
• Proven experience in operational planning, delivery and evaluation of large‑scale events.
• Ability to lead, supervise and develop staff in a fast‑paced environment.
