Senior ETL Developer (Contract)

About the role

A client of Konnexus, working through a mature analytics function, wants a senior ETL developer for a specific project. The work is on-premises, with many different data sources, and involves wrangling data sets and creating modelled reference data. The role is hybrid with a CBD location.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the redesign and rebuild of core batch ETL processes running in the on-premises environment.
• Analyse, improve and document data pipelines.
• Contribute to a bottom-up rebuild of ETL workflows, applying modern best practices while keeping operational reliability.
• Support ongoing day-to-day data processing tasks so that the transition causes minimal disruption.
• Work within a highly secure, on-premise IT infrastructure in line with corporate and industry security standards.
• Collaborate with architects, data analysts and operational teams to support platform evolution.

Required profile

• 6+ years' experience as a Data Engineer and ETL Developer.
• Demonstrated experience with batch ETL design, optimisation and troubleshooting in on-prem environments.
• Ability to work with and modernise legacy systems, focusing on design as well as tooling.
• Understanding of data architecture principles and secure enterprise-grade platforms.
• Exposure to platform modernisation initiatives involving secure, large-scale data systems.
• Australian Permanent Resident or Australian Citizen.

Required skills

• Strong SQL, preferably PL/SQL on Postgres and Oracle, including query optimisation, performance tuning, indexing and partition pruning.
• ETL tools such as SSIS or Informatica.
