Senior Estimator - Insurance Building

About the role

An experienced Senior Estimator Insurance Building is sought to join a high-performing team in Melbourne. Reporting to the Operations Manager – Construction & Estimating, the role provides estimating support to the Operations and Major Loss Managers, attends sites, works closely with clients and insureds, and produces cost estimates that are market competitive and support business growth.

Key responsibilities

• Provide estimating support to Operations and Major Loss Managers
• Assist with training and mentoring of the estimating team
• Attend sites and complete detailed assessments of domestic and commercial buildings, covering minor to major loss
• Undertake initial inspections, write detailed causation reports and cost estimates using company estimating tools and rate cards
• Oversee the Sales / Estimator budget, including planning, forecasting and timelines
• Liaise with loss adjusters and insurers and monitor approval rates
• Review wins and losses with senior management
• Manage client expectations, give periodic updates and build strong customer relationships
• Build new and leverage existing relationships with key people in the insurance industry

Required profile

• 5 years plus of experience in insurance estimating, including large loss claims
• A trade background, preferably carpentry
• Commitment to safety and sound knowledge of health and safety policies and procedures

Required skills

• Good computer literacy
• Strong communication, organisational and attention-to-detail skills
• Negotiation, facilitation and collaboration with multiple stakeholders
