Senior Electrical Primary Engineer – Energy

About the role

Aurecon is seeking a Senior Electrical Primary Engineer to join its Energy team in Perth. You will work on high‑voltage substation projects that support utility, mining and infrastructure clients, delivering safe and reliable power solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design primary HV substation layouts, general arrangements and electrical diagrams up to 330 kV.
• Specify and select primary plant equipment such as transformers, switchgear, instrument transformers, surge arresters and busbar systems.
• Perform engineering studies including earthing, insulation coordination, lightning protection and conductor design.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop constructible solutions and lead technical reviews.
• Support design approvals and provide engineering input through construction, testing and commissioning phases.
• Apply Western Power requirements, Australian Standards and relevant industry codes.

Required profile

• Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Proven experience delivering HV substation primary design projects in Australia.
• Demonstrated ability to work to Western Power standards for utility, mining or industrial networks.
• Strong technical communication skills for reports, specifications and client documentation.
• Effective collaboration within multidisciplinary project teams.
