Senior Electrical Design Engineer

About the role

SAGE Automation, a Tetra Tech company and part of the SAGE Group, is looking for a Senior Electrical Design Engineer with 5+ years of experience to join its Tasmanian team. The engineer works in water, food and beverage and heavy industry sectors, supporting advanced PLC systems, motor control centres and distribution systems. Positions are available in Hobart or Launceston, with relocation support offered.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and produce electrical designs to meet project requirements, specifications, budgets and timeframes, reporting to the Principal Engineer
• Liaise directly with clients to develop and refine scopes of work
• Mentor and lead Graduate and Junior Engineers
• Manage stakeholder relationships, give timely updates and resolve design issues promptly

Required profile

• Electrical Engineering degree or similar, with at least 5 years of proven experience in automation, defence, energy, utilities or manufacturing
• Verifiable knowledge of systems engineering principles and practices
• Verifiable design management or leadership experience
• Excellent communication skills and confidence engaging stakeholders at all levels

Required skills

• Design tools such as PowerCAD or ETAP, cable sizing and load calculations
• PLC I/O and architecture drawings (highly desirable)
