Structures (Sheet Metal) Aircraft Maintenance Engineer

About the role

Airnorth is looking for a motivated, safety-focused Structures (Sheet Metal) Aircraft Maintenance Engineer to join its Engineering team. The role ensures that all structural and maintenance activities are completed in line with approved maintenance data, regulatory requirements and company procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Perform aircraft structural inspections, repairs and modifications
• Manufacture and fabricate aircraft components from sheet metal and approved materials
• Repair and replace aircraft skins, panels, frames, ribs, floor structures and control surfaces
• Conduct corrosion inspections, treatment and preventative maintenance
• Install modification kits and engineering orders
• Complete maintenance records and documentation accurately
• Maintain tooling, equipment and work areas safely and serviceably
• Support general aircraft maintenance activities as directed

Required profile

• Certificate IV in Aeroskills (Structures) or an equivalent recognised aircraft structural trade qualification
• Experience in aircraft sheet metal and structural repairs
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, SRMs, AMMs and approved maintenance data
• Strong attention to detail, communication and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Legal right to live and work in Australia without restrictions
• Desirable: experience on aircraft types operated by Airnorth, experience in a CASA Part 145 organisation, composite repair and corrosion control experience, NDT awareness or qualifications

Required skills

• Computer literacy and experience using maintenance management systems
• Ability to obtain and maintain an ASIC and Airside Driver's Licence
