Senior Director Facilities Maintenance

About the role

The Senior Director of Facilities Maintenance leads the delivery of planned and reactive maintenance across the Canberra Health Services property portfolio, including the Canberra Hospital. Reporting to the Branch Manager, Infrastructure and Facilities Services, this senior position ensures a safe, healthy, and productive environment for staff and patients.

Key responsibilities

• Strategically manage planned and reactive maintenance activities across acute and non‑acute health facilities.
• Lead internal FM trade staff and external contractors, overseeing a large portfolio of buildings, plant, and non‑clinical equipment.
• Ensure compliance with Australian Standards, health facility guidelines, legislation, and CHS policies.
• Negotiate contracts and represent the organisation at senior levels.
• Control the facilities budget, monitor financial performance, and drive cost‑effective solutions.

Required profile

• Extensive knowledge of facilities management within a healthcare environment.
• Strong understanding of compliance, Australian Standards, and health facility regulations.
• Proven leadership and people‑management experience.
• Excellent negotiation and stakeholder‑engagement abilities.
• Ability to obtain a pre‑employment National Police Check and meet occupational health requirements.
