Senior DevOps Engineer (Contract/Perm)

About the role

NCS Australia is looking for an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to lead the design, implementation and optimisation of enterprise DevOps practices, cloud automation frameworks and platform engineering capabilities. You will work across multiple agile delivery teams, partnering with architects, developers, security specialists and business stakeholders to drive automation‑first, cloud‑native engineering across large‑scale ICT environments.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of enterprise CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation frameworks.
• Architect and deliver reusable Infrastructure‑as‑Code solutions using Terraform, Ansible, YAML and cloud‑native tooling.
• Drive adoption of DevOps, DevSecOps and automation‑first practices across delivery teams.
• Implement cloud governance frameworks, including security controls and operational resilience best practices.
• Lead observability initiatives (monitoring, logging, metrics, tracing, alerting).
• Optimise cloud usage and cost efficiency through FinOps practices and performance tuning.
• Support container platforms, micro‑services deployments and platform engineering capabilities.
• Mentor and guide engineers on DevOps tooling, automation and cloud engineering.
• Lead troubleshooting of complex infrastructure and deployment issues and contribute to operational governance.

Required profile

• Hands‑on technical leader with deep DevOps expertise.
• Proven experience improving engineering practices at scale in complex environments.
• Strong mentoring and influencing skills, able to guide technical direction.

• AWS cloud engineering and automation.
• Terraform, Ansible, YAML, and other Infrastructure‑as‑Code frameworks.
