Senior Designer - Roads & Highways (12d)

About the role

SMEC, a global engineering consultancy, is looking for an Experienced or Senior Designer - Roads & Highways with strong 12d experience to join its North Sydney office. You will help design and deliver major transport infrastructure projects across NSW and the wider ANZ region, working closely with engineers and project managers and guiding junior designers.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and produce high-quality design solutions for major road and highway projects
• Collaborate with engineers and project managers
• Provide guidance to junior designers and support team capability
• Drive and improve CAD and design best practice

Required profile

• 6-10 years' experience on major transport projects, ideally roads and highways, in a similar role
• Diploma, Advanced Diploma or equivalent tertiary qualification in Civil Design / Drafting
• Proven ability to lead design development and deliver outputs on time and within budget
• Experience mentoring or supporting junior designers
• Experience producing design documentation to NSW transport authority standards, including Transport for NSW and Austroads requirements, from concept through to detailed design, construction and as-built stages (highly regarded)

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in 12d (preferred) and AutoCAD
• Strong communication skills and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
