Senior Cyber Security Engineer

About the role

Join a leading technology and engineering firm supporting national security as a Senior Cyber Security Engineer. The role involves hands‑on security engineering, improving the organisation’s security posture and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. You will operate independently on‑site in Melbourne or Canberra.

Key responsibilities

• Manage SIEM and SOAR platforms such as Splunk, including onboarding, health checks, patching and maintenance.
• Perform security engineering across endpoint, network and gateway technologies.
• Assist with incident response using enterprise security tooling.
• Provide security engineering advice to internal stakeholders.
• Develop and uplift security operations system requirements.

Required profile

• Relevant qualifications in Cyber Security, Information Technology or Engineering.
• Industry certifications such as CISSP, CISM, Security+, Splunk or equivalent are highly regarded.
• Strong experience in security engineering or security operations with a hands‑on focus.
• Experience with SIEM and SOAR platforms, particularly Splunk.
• Knowledge of EDR, device control and application control technologies (e.g., Trellix, Carbon Black).
• Familiarity with vulnerability management tools.
• Understanding of MFA, IAM and privileged access management solutions such as CyberArk or BeyondTrust.
