About the role

Join Origin’s Retail Legal team as a Senior Corporate Lawyer, advising on complex energy regulatory matters across the Retail and Origin Zero businesses.

Key responsibilities

• Advise the Retail business on complex energy regulatory matters and manage legal issues from regulatory incidents and investigations.
• Draft and review customer contracts and communications, ensuring clarity and compliance.
• Engage with regulators such as the Australian Energy Regulator and ACCC, and manage external legal advisers.
• Provide practical recommendations, keep senior leaders informed of legislative changes, and mentor junior lawyers.

Required profile

• Admission as an Australian lawyer with 8–10+ years post‑admission experience.
• Strong knowledge of energy regulation, especially retail energy regulations.
• Experience handling regulatory incidents and investigations with bodies like AER and ACCC.
• Sound judgement, practical solutions focus, and ability to explain complex issues clearly.
• Strong influencing, stakeholder management, and ability to manage competing deadlines.
