Senior Consultant or Manager - Actuarial, Health and Human Services

About the role

EY is hiring a Senior Consultant or Manager in actuarial consulting, focused on the health, aged care, disability and human service sectors. You will advise government and private clients on risk, performance and growth, and the role can be based in Canberra or Sydney.

Key responsibilities

• Build strategic partnerships with public and private clients to improve community wellbeing
• Work with colleagues in strategy, transactions, tax, technology and risk
• Take part in projects such as system reform, policy design and evaluation, funding and costing analysis, model validation and risk management
• Develop and run actuarial models, analyse data and interpret findings
• Mentor junior team members and stay current with industry trends and regulation

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance or a related field
• Professional actuarial qualification (e.g. FIAA) completed or in progress, with 2 to 8 years of actuarial or data analytics experience
• Relevant knowledge of government policy in a related sector or actuarial insurance experience is preferable

Required skills

• Actuarial modelling and analysis, with Excel, SAS, R and Python
• Coding, programming and AI/GenAI experience is highly valued
• Strong quantitative, analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to explain complex information to non-specialists
