Senior Civil Engineer - Discipline Team Lead

About the role

A growing engineering team in Geelong is looking for an experienced Discipline Team Lead, a senior civil design professional who combines strong technical expertise with leadership ability and a passion for developing people. The role works closely with the Discipline Director to support project delivery, lead and mentor team members, and contribute to operational performance, strategic planning and client relationships. It is a hands-on leadership position with ongoing technical input and project oversight.

Key responsibilities

• Provide visible, supportive leadership across the discipline team, including regular one-on-one check-ins on development and well-being
• Mentor and coach engineers and designers to build technical capability and career growth
• Lead and review civil engineering designs for commercial developments, water and stormwater infrastructure and pump stations
• Coordinate project delivery outcomes and ensure quality and technical excellence in design documentation
• Monitor team utilisation, forecasting, invoicing and project performance, and review and approve timesheets
• Support recruitment, workforce planning and resource planning
• Maintain client relationships, support business development and help secure future project pipelines

Required profile

• Significant experience in civil engineering design within a consulting environment
• Proven experience leading or mentoring technical teams
• Relevant tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to balance technical delivery, people leadership and commercial awareness

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D and 12d
• Technical expertise in civil commercial projects, water and stormwater infrastructure and pump station design
