Facilities Maintenance Officer – Vehicle Proving Ground

About the role

A practical, reliable and hands-on Facilities Maintenance Officer is needed to support the Australian Automotive Research Centre (AARC) at its vehicle proving ground in Wensleydale, about 11 km inland from Anglesea. The work is varied, physically active and suited to someone who enjoys being outdoors and using equipment. It is initially a casual labour-hire assignment through Workforce Extensions Geelong, expected over about two months, with possible extension or transition to ongoing work.

Key responsibilities

• General grounds and property maintenance across the facility
• Assist with upkeep of roads, tracks, surrounding areas and site infrastructure
• Operate plant, machinery, vehicles and maintenance equipment where licensed or trained
• General labouring and trade assistant duties, supporting repairs and upkeep
• Help prepare and maintain operational areas and keep the site tidy and safe
• Other maintenance and operational duties as directed

Required profile

• Background in civil construction, grounds maintenance, agriculture, landscaping, trade assistance, machinery operation or similar
• Previous hands-on labouring, maintenance or operational experience
• Comfortable outdoors and able to handle physically demanding work
• Reliable, punctual and able to work in a small team and independently
• Good understanding of workplace health and safety; pre-employment medical assessment required

Required skills

• Current Australian driver's licence
• Some experience using tools, machinery or plant equipment
• Highly regarded but not essential: HR or heavy vehicle licence, forklift, skid steer or excavator tickets, mechanical/fabrication/civil or trade experience, property maintenance experience, First Aid certificate
