Senior Case Manager

About the role

Gallagher Bassett is looking for a Senior Case Manager in Melbourne, Victoria. The role supports injured workers who claim reimbursement and cost coverage for medical expenses, and works with employers, medical professionals and other stakeholders to help people recover and return to work.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and process claims for injured workers seeking reimbursement and cost coverage for medical expenses
• Review, monitor and approve requests from injured workers for medical and surgical treatment
• Ensure appropriate documentation is received to process weekly wage payments for employers and injured workers
• Handle administrative tasks such as assessing and processing invoices, entering contact notes and drafting letters on claim decisions
• Take and make a high volume of client and customer calls about claims updates and outcomes
• Work with external stakeholders (medical professionals, health providers, occupational rehabilitation services, employers) and internal teams to support a sustainable return to work
• Take part in case conferences and implement cost management strategies on claims
• Use claims management systems and databases to record and review claims information, keeping it private and accurate

Required profile

• Previous experience in fast-paced, high-pressure customer service roles such as insurance, medical administration, occupational rehabilitation, allied health, mental health, support work, nursing, social work or health and safety
• Tertiary study in psychology, social work or a similar discipline is beneficial but not essential
• Resilience and strong telephone and communication skills, with experience handling challenging or sensitive situations
• Excellent written and administrative skills, with attention to detail and the ability to learn new processes quickly
• Strong time management and organisational skills, able to manage competing priorities
• A self-starter with a team-player attitude
