Senior Buyer - Gateway APAC

About the role

Merlin Entertainments is looking for an experienced Senior Buyer - Gateway APAC to join its Global Procurement team, based in either Sydney or Melbourne. Reporting to the Regional Head of Procurement, you will lead strategic sourcing and procurement initiatives across Merlin's Gateway attractions in Australia, New Zealand and the wider APAC region, working with attraction leadership, finance, operations and global procurement stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Lead strategic sourcing initiatives across Gateway APAC attractions.
• Develop and implement regional category and sourcing strategies aligned with global priorities.
• Manage complex RFIs, RFQs, RFPs and major contract renewals.
• Consolidate suppliers and leverage regional purchasing power to improve commercial outcomes.
• Analyse spend, suppliers and markets to find cost efficiencies.
• Build relationships with regional suppliers, review supplier performance and drive innovation and continuous improvement.
• Negotiate pricing, commercial terms and contracts.
• Partner with business leaders, General Managers and Finance teams.
• Support responsible sourcing, including sustainability, Modern Slavery and ESG requirements, and ensure compliance with governance and procurement policies.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in strategic procurement, sourcing or category management.
• Proven track record of commercial value through sourcing, supplier management and contract negotiations.
• Experience leading tenders (RFIs, RFQs, RFPs).
• Strong supplier and contract management, negotiation and influencing skills.
• Excellent analytical skills, able to interpret spend and supplier data.
• Desirable: procurement experience in tourism, hospitality, entertainment or retail; knowledge of Coupa, SAP or Oracle; CIPS or equivalent qualification.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other procurement reporting tools.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a regional and global team.
