Senior Business and Commercial Solicitor

About the role

Rostron Carlyle Lawyers is looking for a commercially minded Senior Business and Commercial Solicitor for its established Brisbane CBD practice. You will work with private and corporate business owners, developers and commercial landlords across Queensland, leading matters autonomously while having partner and professional support. The role also leads strategic growth in this area of legal services and plays a key part in the firm's expansion.

Key responsibilities

• Lead business sales and acquisitions, including due diligence, contract drafting and negotiations
• Manage commercial and business transactions such as share acquisitions and disposals, put and call options, joint ventures, shareholder and unit holder agreements and general commercial agreements
• Advise on business structuring and establish trusts and companies aligned with clients' goals
• Work directly with clients and their advisers such as accountants and financing consultants
• Take part in commercial property work, reviewing and negotiating commercial and retail leases, variations and related agreements
• Collaborate with Partners to deliver results and maintain client and referral relationships
• Represent the firm professionally at networking and industry events

Required profile

• Minimum of 5+ years of professional experience in commercial and business transactional law
• Experience in business sales, business advisory and structuring of transactions
• Current Australian practising certificate
• Strong drafting, negotiation and advisory skills, with autonomous management and commercial judgement
• Team mindset, commitment to continuous improvement and growth
• Ability to build client and referrer trust through clear advice, high standards and timely delivery
