Senior Automation and Control Engineer

About the role

A senior engineer position in automation and control, based in the Illawarra region of NSW, for a qualified engineer with practical experience. The role covers product, service and software solutions, with flexible hours and working from home built into the routine. Applicants with more advanced skills may receive more significant work and a higher pay, and a lead engineer role may be considered.

Key responsibilities

• Provide application solutions to customers in hardware and define their control and automation functionality
• Electrical design for low voltage distribution, control systems and instrumentation
• Develop, test and commission PLC, DCS and SCADA systems
• Supervise site technical installation and commissioning
• Support customers with fault-finding process improvements and small projects
• Mentor trainees and less experienced staff and supervise others to meet project KPIs
• Maintain schedules for assigned work

Required profile

• Australian residency; ideally located in the Illawarra region, with the ability to support both local and non-local engineering and site work
• Minimum 8 years of relevant industry experience
• Degree in Electrical Engineering preferred; technical qualifications can be substituted with relative experience
• Self-motivated, able to work unsupervised and own project outcomes
• Solid commitment to safety, quality, honesty and work integrity
• Good communication with customers and team members

Required skills

• Hands-on PLC/DCS programming and validation
• Advantage: Allen Bradley ControlLogix, CitectSCADA, Yokogawa CentumVP, EcoStruxure Geo SCADA
• Microsoft Teams, Outlook, Word and Excel
