Senior Associate - Global Trade Operations

About the role

CommBank is hiring a Senior Associate for its Trade Finance Operations team, within Global Trade Operations under the Chief Operating Office. The team sits in a middle-office environment and delivers and settles trade finance transactions across import/export and trade loans, managing operations, monitoring financial transactions and keeping clear correspondence with customers from business banking to institutional bank and markets clients. You will partner with Trade Sales Specialists, Relationship Managers and product specialists to deliver service on trade finance needs.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the end-to-end delivery of trade finance transactions across the group
• Review customer loan applications and documents so that funding can proceed
• Monitor, analyse and review physical trade documentation and transactions against AML and CTF policies, ensuring each meets the bank's and regulators' risk appetite before release
• Process trade finance loan transactions and implement facilities for traditional and structured trade finance products
• Assist with client account management and support Relationship Managers and Trade Sales Specialists
• Comply with bank policies, controls and frameworks, report issues to management and follow escalation protocols to minimise risk
• Work daily with the bank's trade processing business partners

Required profile

• Previous experience in roles requiring high attention to detail and investigative outcomes
• Able to think critically and solve problems clearly for customers
• Well-developed stakeholder management skills and demonstrable accuracy
• Solid understanding of risk management (operational, compliance, credit, sovereign or market risk)
• Knowledge of the global trade environment and domestic trade industry is desirable
