Job description
About the role
An award-winning firm is seeking a passionate, experienced full-time Senior Associate to join its Family Law team at its beachside Cronulla office. The role offers exposure to complex, high-quality family law matters with autonomy over your own caseload, from the initial client meeting through to resolution and court appearances, supported by experienced legal support staff, graduates and junior solicitors. Ongoing mentorship comes from the Managing Partner and Head of Family Law, an Accredited Specialist in Family Law.
Key responsibilities
- Run your own files across the full range of family law matters, including parenting arrangements, property settlements, divorce matters, child support, asset protection and binding financial agreements.
- Manage mediations and court appearances on your own files.
- Guide and develop junior lawyers, taking ownership of a distinct practice stream, allocating work, overseeing team capacity and acting as the first point of contact for juniors.
- Mentor, supervise or review the work of junior solicitors, including regular check-ins on workload and professional development.
Required profile
- Relevant experience providing high-quality family law advice at a senior level; Accredited Specialists are welcome to apply.
- Experience mentoring, supervising or reviewing the work of junior solicitors.
- Initiative, enthusiasm, confidence and professionalism.
- Ability to work to tight deadlines, with excellent communication and organisational skills, strong attention to detail and a positive, collaborative attitude.
What we offer
- Cover of professional registration costs, including the annual practising certificate and CLE requirement.
- Nomination for local and national industry awards and support for further specialisation or accreditation.
- Business development support and a generous bonus scheme for high performers.
- A pathway to leadership and partnership-track opportunities.
- Support from experienced legal secretaries and a growing team of graduates and paralegals, with an annual team planning day, monthly meetings and solicitor-only sessions.
- Beachside office with onsite gym, pool and sauna, wellness initiatives, an Employee Assistance Program and onsite parking.
- Flexible working arrangements are negotiable; eligible Senior Associates may get one work-from-home day per week after probation.
