Senior Associate - Employment Law

About the role

A leading Sydney team within a top-tier firm, working alongside a national team, is looking for a Senior Associate to join its Employment, Industrial Relations and Workplace Safety practice. The team advises blue-chip clients across many sectors on employment law, industrial relations and safety matters.

Key responsibilities

• Run matters and supervise and develop team members.
• Deliver advice on workforce strategy, enterprise bargaining, industrial disputes and industrial action, and represent clients in employment and industrial relations disputes (general protections, unfair dismissals, bargaining disputes).
• Advise on the employment aspects of large-scale M&A and project transactions.
• Provide compliance advice on employment, anti-discrimination, safety and payroll issues, and interface with industrial and safety regulators, including investigations and prosecutions.
• Handle all types of Fair Work Commission and Court proceedings.
• Contribute to business development with existing and new clients.

Required profile

• Experience as a Senior Associate delivering advice on employment law and industrial relations matters from a leading top-tier private practice, government or in-house environment.
• An excellent academic record, strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Desire to take an active role in the team's strategic business development.
• Hunger to learn and develop while maintaining a market-leading practice.

Required skills

• Strategic advice on workforce strategy, enterprise bargaining, industrial disputes and industrial action.
• Regulatory and compliance advice, and handling of Fair Work Commission and Court proceedings.
• Employment aspects of large-scale M&A transactions.
• Advocacy skills are desirable but not essential.
