Senior Associate Architect – Data Centre

About the role
Jacobs is seeking an experienced Senior Associate Architect to lead the design and delivery of major data centre projects in Melbourne. You will work within the APAC Data Centre team, collaborating with multidisciplinary groups locally and internationally, and help build Jacobs' architectural capability in the region.
Key responsibilities
- Lead architectural design and documentation from concept through construction, including master planning, schematic design and detailed design.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary inputs (engineering, specialist consultants) to deliver integrated, technically robust solutions.
- Work directly with senior client stakeholders to capture and translate operational and technical requirements.
- Provide design leadership while balancing quality, programme, cost and scope.
- Review technical submissions, respond to contractor RFIs and conduct site visits as needed.
- Mentor junior and mid‑level architects and contribute to knowledge sharing across the Data Centre team.
- Utilise digital tools such as Revit, Rhino and BIM coordination workflows to enhance design efficiency.
Required profile
- Recognised architectural qualification and registration as an Architect.
- Minimum 15 years of local architectural experience, with strong data centre design and delivery background.
- Proven design management capability from concept through detailed design and construction.
- Knowledge of Australian building codes, construction documentation, contract administration and data centre standards.
- Experience working with senior client stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise and direct design professionals and manage project programmes and budgets.
