Senior Application Engineer - Salesforce

About the role

Torrens University Australia is looking for a Senior Application Engineer - Salesforce to develop, implement and maintain its Salesforce CRM and Marketing Cloud platforms in a complex, integrated environment. The role centres on building and supporting integrations between Salesforce and the Student Management System, Banner, using Informatica and other connected systems. It is a full-time, permanent position with hybrid flexibility, preferred in Sydney and Melbourne.

Key responsibilities

• Salesforce development and customisation using Apex, Lightning (Aura and LWC) and configuration best practice
• Configure, maintain and improve Salesforce environments for performance, reliability and user experience
• Build and support integrations between Salesforce, Banner and other systems via REST, SOAP, platform events, webhooks, middleware and Informatica
• Develop and optimise Marketing Cloud (Email Studio, Journey Builder, Automation Studio, Contact Builder, AMPscript, SQL) and stay informed on Agentforce, Einstein, Data Cloud and other AI capabilities
• Troubleshoot complex issues, perform root-cause analysis, provide production support and improve performance, security and quality
• Apply secure coding, peer review, unit and integration testing, and support releases across development, testing and production with GitLab
• Work with IT, Marketing, Student Services, product owners, business analysts, QA and support teams, and contribute to documentation, training and the IT roadmap

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification or formal training in IT, Computing Studies, Information Systems or a related discipline
• At least five years of hands-on Salesforce development experience, preferably in an enterprise or higher education environment
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, communication and stakeholder-management skills, with Agile or similar delivery experience
• Experience in code reviews, technical design reviews, testing, release planning and production support

Required skills

• Apex, SOQL, Lightning Web Components, Flow, Visualforce, Aura, custom objects, fields, data modelling and Salesforce security
• Salesforce Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Experience Cloud and Marketing Cloud, including AMPscript and SQL
• REST, SOAP, middleware and integration platforms such as Informatica
• CI/CD and release tools such as GitLab, Azure DevOps, Gearset or Copado
• Salesforce Platform Developer I certification (required); Platform Developer II, Administrator, Platform App Builder, Marketing Cloud or Architect certifications desirable
