jll · Sydney
Job description
About the role
JLL's Retail Capital Markets team, Australia and New Zealand's leading advisor on shopping centre and retail investment transactions, is hiring a Senior Analyst / Associate Director in Sydney. This is a senior hire into a high-performing team, acting as a key analytical and operational link between the agency team and internal support functions. The role works directly with agency principals on active campaigns, leads financial modelling and underwriting, and represents JLL from pitch to close.
Key responsibilities
- Campaign management: prepare sales pitches, information memoranda, data rooms, financial models and marketing collateral, manage the sale process from launch through to expressions of interest, and run the due diligence period after conditional exchange.
- Modelling and underwriting: develop and maintain detailed financial models in Forbury (DCF, capex, lease expiry, cap rate/yield), underwrite acquisition and divestment pricing, and support the sales strategy for each asset.
- Business development: build relationships with listed REITs, unlisted wholesale funds and private capital, and support the agency principals in growing the mandate pipeline.
- Team leadership: manage and mentor the retail capital markets analytical and operations team (Senior Analyst, Junior Analyst and Marketing & Operations) and act as the main conduit between the team and the agency principals.
Required profile
- Minimum 5 years' experience in commercial real estate, with a track record in retail capital markets, investment sales or a closely related discipline.
- Proven experience managing complex, multi-party transactions through to completion.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, and the ability to prepare client-facing materials such as investment memoranda and pitch presentations.
- Demonstrated ability to build senior relationships with institutional clients and experience managing or mentoring junior team members.
- Desirable: experience on major retail transactions, existing network with institutional capital groups, familiarity with the Australian retail REIT landscape, and a tertiary qualification in property, finance, commerce or a related discipline.
Required skills
- Strong financial modelling, ideally with Forbury and Excel-based DCF and cash flow modelling.
- Comprehensive understanding of retail real estate fundamentals and the Australian institutional investment market.
What we offer
- Work on Australia's most significant retail capital markets transactions with a market-leading agency team.
- A collaborative, high-performance culture with scope for career progression.
- Access to JLL's global platform, international capital networks and research capabilities.
- Competitive remuneration with performance-based incentives.
- Ongoing professional development and access to the Capital Markets community across Asia Pacific and globally.
