Senior Accountant – Remote (Business Services)

About the role

This fully remote Senior Accountant position supports a business services team within a leading locally owned accounting and advisory firm in Newcastle. You will act as a senior point of support, reviewing technical work, managing workflow, and handling client communications.

Key responsibilities

• Review compliance work such as income tax returns, BAS and smaller entity jobs.
• Prepare and oversee financial statements, tax returns and reporting requirements.
• Support compliance deadlines across your client portfolio.
• Assist with workflow priorities, job allocation and team coordination.
• Provide technical support and coaching to junior accountants.
• Handle client queries by phone and email when required.
• Contribute to management reporting and broader business services tasks.
• Support advisory and value‑add outcomes where appropriate.

Required profile

• 5+ years of Australian public practice experience.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge and ability to work independently.
• Comfortable operating fully remote while staying connected with team and clients.
• Excellent communication skills for client interaction and junior staff coaching.
