Senior Accountant

About the role

We are looking for a detail‑oriented Senior Accountant to support the General Manager and Group Financial Controller in the day‑to‑day financial operations of a community‑focused club. This position offers the chance to own key financial processes and reporting while contributing to a vibrant, member‑centric organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver accurate monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports for the General Manager and Board of Directors.
• Assist in budget development, monitor performance against budget, highlight variances and provide analysis.
• Monitor cash flow and maintain up‑to‑date forecasts to support operational needs.
• Support the payroll function, maintain the payroll system, ensure compliance and provide backup when needed.
• Execute general accounting tasks including reconciliations, journal entries and month‑end close.
• Ensure compliance with financial regulations, including AUSTRAC gaming requirements and QRO payroll tax obligations.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of financial processes and systems.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or a related field.
• CA, CPA or equivalent certification highly preferred.
• Proven senior accounting or finance experience, preferably in a multi‑entity or SME environment.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, regulations and reporting standards.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills, with experience working with senior stakeholders.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic setting.
• Experience in payroll support and general finance operations is highly regarded.
• Exposure to hospitality, club or gaming industries is advantageous.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience using Xero accounting software.
