Security Solutions Engineer

About the role

Advent One, a technology company that secures hybrid platforms for Australian businesses, is hiring a Security Solutions Engineer in Melbourne (hybrid) with national support. The role reports to the CISO and sits between operational delivery and advisory work: protecting the company's own environment while helping customers solve real security challenges. It is full-time.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and maintain identity, endpoint, cloud and network controls; run monitoring, alert triage, vulnerability management and remediation, and keep documentation and runbooks up to date.
• Lead detection, containment and remediation; drive detection engineering, SIEM tuning and use-case development in Microsoft Sentinel, and act as escalation point for complex issues.
• Operate and improve the ISMS (ISO/IEC 27001:2022), support IRAP readiness and Australian Government ISM alignment, and own risk management, audit prep and security policy.
• Contribute to customer advisory engagements across identity, cloud security, SecOps, Securing AI and governance, running technical discovery and assessments, designing solutions and presenting findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Required profile

• Degree, diploma or equivalent industry experience in Cybersecurity, IT or a related field.
• 3-5 years in security engineering/architecture, security operations or a related technical discipline.
• Experience in customer-facing consulting, advisory or solutioning.
• Australian citizen able to obtain and hold an Australian Government security clearance.
• Nice to have: Microsoft Security certifications (SC-200, SC-300, AZ-500), CompTIA Security+, IRAP familiarity, managed services or cybersecurity practice experience, and AI and automation applied to cybersecurity.

• Strong IAM and PAM expertise (Entra ID, Conditional Access, PIM)
• Cloud security across Azure and AWS
• Knowledge of ISO/IEC 27001:2022 or ISO/IEC 42001 and the Australian Government ISM
• SIEM experience (Sentinel, Huntress, CrowdStrike) and Log Analytics
• Incident response and vulnerability management
