Security Engineer, Detection

About the role

Google's Security team safeguards the operating environment for its users and developers. As a Security Engineer focused on detection, you will design and implement advanced detection mechanisms, automate remediation, and conduct threat hunting, forensics, and malware analysis to protect Google’s infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Identify security issues and design controls, tools, and services to improve security systems.
• Monitor Google networks globally, respond to security events, and participate in incident response.
• Investigate alerts from diverse sources to assess threat relevance.
• Collaborate across Google to create new detection capabilities and integrate logging sources.
• Develop automated remediation systems and conduct network, system, and malware forensics.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 1 year of experience in security assessments, design reviews, or threat modeling.
• At least 1 year of experience in security engineering, computer/network security, and security protocols.
• At least 1 year of coding experience in a general‑purpose programming language.
