Sales Representative - Steel & Construction Materials

About the role

A well-established business supplying the construction, infrastructure, mining, residential and commercial sectors across Western Australia is looking for an experienced Sales Representative in steel and construction materials. The role combines technical sales, relationship management and business development, with the aim of becoming a trusted industry advisor. It is a permanent full-time position based in Perth.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and secure new business opportunities across infrastructure, civil, mining, residential and commercial construction.
• Develop and maintain a strong pipeline of project opportunities throughout Western Australia.
• Pursue and convert new customer opportunities while growing existing accounts.
• Monitor market activity, upcoming construction projects and industry trends.
• Develop strategic account plans and deliver technical advice on reinforcing steel, structural steel and associated products.
• Build relationships with contractors, builders, engineers, developers, fabricators and other decision-makers.
• Manage forecasting, pipeline reporting and sales activity planning, and support account management including timely payments.
• Achieve sales, growth and profitability targets.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years' experience in steel sales, construction materials sales, building products or a related industry.
• Proven success in business development, account management and project-based sales.
• Experience in the construction, infrastructure, mining, civil, engineering or commercial sectors.
• Current Australian driver's licence.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of reinforcing steel, structural steel, concrete products or heavy construction materials.
• Negotiation, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to build and manage a sustainable project pipeline.
• Highly regarded: reading structural drawings and specifications, CRM and sales tools, tendering process knowledge, and a network in the WA construction and steel industries.
