Roads & Highways Design Manager

About the role

AECOM’s Highways team in Perth is expanding to deliver major transport infrastructure projects across Western Australia and ANZ. The Design Manager will lead multidisciplinary design teams and ensure high‑quality, innovative, and constructable outcomes for highways and road projects.

Key responsibilities

• Lead design management and delivery of major highways and road infrastructure projects.
• Manage multidisciplinary teams across highways, drainage, pavements, structures, utilities, traffic and ITS disciplines.
• Take accountability for project scope, programme, commercial performance, technical delivery and client outcomes.
• Coordinate delivery across Perth, interstate and global teams and act as trusted client interface.
• Provide leadership, mentoring and technical guidance while supporting capability growth.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Design Manager, Project Manager or Senior Engineer on highways or major transport infrastructure projects.
• Strong experience managing multidisciplinary design teams on complex road projects.
• Demonstrated delivery for Main Roads WA or similar transport authorities.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and client management capability.
• Relevant engineering qualifications and professional registration or pathway toward registration.

• Project scope, programme, risk, commercial performance and technical coordination.
• Collaboration and leadership across design and delivery teams.
