Rig Buyer - Offshore Procurement

About the role

The Rig Buyer supports offshore operations by managing the end-to-end procurement of materials, services and repairs for rigs. The role ensures timely, cost-effective and compliant procurement so that rig operations run without interruption. It requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail and collaboration with internal departments and external vendors. The position is on call outside normal hours to support emergency procurement.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct commercial evaluations aligned with pricing agreements and contracts, negotiate terms when needed and document deviations and savings.
• Oversee automated sourcing, manage vendor negotiations and work with Global Sourcing to resolve pricing issues.
• Create and manage purchase orders in ERP systems, coordinate supplier deliveries and resolve pricing, quantity or quality discrepancies.
• Track repair items from dispatch to return, including cost validation and communication with rig teams.
• Ensure approvals and documentation for service labour, track technician movements and keep accurate service records and cost tracking.
• Act as the point of contact between vendors and logistics for equipment collection and urgent shipments, and resolve queries on material receipt, invoices and purchase order discrepancies.
• Respond quickly to urgent orders and rig-down situations to minimise downtime.

Required profile

• High school diploma; a bachelor's degree is preferred.
• At least 3 years of procurement and related industry experience; 5+ years preferred.
• Fundamental knowledge of company and regional supply chain procedures.

Required skills

• Attention to detail and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
• Very good oral and written communication.
• Initiative, sense of urgency and a positive, team-oriented approach.
• Knowledge of personal computers and software applications.
