Retail Manager

About the role

Anne's Pantry is a historic bakery and café brand looking for an experienced Retail Manager to lead daily operations across its stores in the Surrey Hills area.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and control daily retail operations to ensure efficient service and meet operational objectives.
• Determine product ranges, stock levels and customer service standards based on sales performance and seasonal demand.
• Select, train, roster, supervise and evaluate retail staff.
• Monitor inventory, coordinate purchasing and supplier orders, and control stock.
• Track sales, labour expenses, stock costs and wastage against budgets and financial targets.
• Oversee POS operations, cash handling, banking, daily reconciliations and maintain financial records.
• Implement pricing strategies, product displays, promotions and local marketing initiatives.
• Ensure attractive product presentation, accurate information and consistent customer service.
• Handle customer enquiries, feedback and complaints, improving satisfaction.
• Plan staffing and stock for weekends, public holidays and peak periods.
• Develop operational procedures to boost sales, productivity and service efficiency.
• Maintain compliance with health, safety, food safety and hygiene regulations.
• Safeguard cash, stock, equipment and other assets through security and loss‑prevention measures.

Required profile

• At least 2 years of full‑time experience in a similar retail management role.
• Diploma in Hospitality Management or a related field.
• Full working rights in Australia (citizenship or permanent residency preferred).
• Strong leadership, communication and customer service abilities.
• Good organisational, problem‑solving and fast‑paced environment skills.
• Understanding of stock control, sales performance and daily operational management.
