Resident Medical Officer (JMO) – Broken Hill

About the role

The Resident Medical Officer (JMO) will join a supportive, multi‑disciplinary team in the Far West Local Health District. Working on the frontline, you will provide medical care, assess and manage patients across several clinical departments, and develop broad clinical decision‑making skills under senior supervision.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive medical assessment and management for in‑patients and out‑patients.
• Collaborate with nursing, allied health and senior medical staff to ensure coordinated patient care.
• Document clinical findings, treatment plans and progress notes in accordance with hospital standards.
• Participate in on‑call roster and emergency response as required.
• Engage in continuous learning and professional development activities.

Required profile

• Medical degree (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) and registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
• Eligibility for a Junior Medical Officer (JMO) position.
• Willingness to work in a remote/rural setting for a fixed‑term contract (until 28 May 2028).
• Ability to work 38 hours per week on‑site in Broken Hill.
