Reporting Actuary (Capital & Reserving)

About the role

This Reporting Actuary position sits within Medibank's Capital & Reserving Squad, supporting actuarial analysis, reporting and advice that underpins financial management, regulatory compliance and strategic decisions. The role covers claims reserving, prudential reporting, capital management and Risk Equalisation, partnering with Finance, Actuarial and Risk to deliver high-quality insights.

Key responsibilities

• Own and deliver actuarial analysis, modelling, reporting and advice on claims reserving, prudential reporting, capital management and Risk Equalisation.
• Lead parts of the monthly claims reserving and reporting cycle, reviewing model outputs, setting assumptions and explaining trends.
• Prepare regulatory reporting and support modelling and documentation, including APRA submissions, reconciliations, audit responses and compliance obligations.
• Analyse experience, trends, variances and emerging issues to give actionable recommendations.
• Apply governance, controls and validation practices across models, data, assumptions and reporting.
• Drive process uplift, automation and continuous improvement.
• Coordinate analysts, provide technical guidance, peer review and coaching.

Required profile

• Associate or Fellow of the Actuaries Institute (or equivalent), typically with 4+ years' actuarial experience.
• Practical experience in private health insurance, claims reserving, liability valuation, APRA prudential reporting or actuarial and financial reporting.
• Ability to turn complex information into clear, actionable advice.
• Experience improving governed models, reporting processes and controls.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel and practical SQL.
• A programming language such as R or Python.
• Actuarial modelling and financial analysis.
