Regulatory Services Ranger – Local Government

About the role

The Planning and Growth Department of Forbes Shire Council is seeking a Ranger to deliver regulatory, compliance and enforcement services across the local government area. Reporting to the Manager of Waste and Environment, you will work both independently and as part of a collaborative team to ensure legislation is applied effectively.

Key responsibilities

• Provide and deliver regulatory, compliance and enforcement services in line with the Public Spaces (Unattended Property) Act 2021, Companion Animals Act and other relevant legislation.
• Conduct inspections, investigations and issue notices or penalties where required.
• Engage with community members, stakeholders and other council teams to achieve timely and appropriate outcomes.
• Prepare reports, maintain accurate records and contribute to project documentation.
• Support the Planning and Growth Team on a variety of projects, ensuring regulatory considerations are integrated.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in regulatory or compliance roles, preferably within local government or environmental services.
• Strong knowledge of relevant state legislation and ability to interpret and apply it.
• Ability to work autonomously, make sound decisions and manage a diverse workload.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
