Regulatory Relations Manager – APRA

About the role

The Regulatory Relations Manager for APRA will lead ANZ's engagement with the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority, ensuring effective communication and strategic regulatory oversight. This permanent position is based in Melbourne (or Brisbane) and reports to the Risk Group Compliance division.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the primary relationship manager for APRA, maintaining strategic and proactive regulatory engagement.
• Represent ANZ professionally with APRA and other external regulators, developing engagement models in collaboration with relevant teams.
• Build collaborative relationships across business, product, Risk and Compliance functions.
• Lead continuous improvement of governance processes, including issue management, information sharing and regulatory review preparation.
• Identify regulatory themes and trends, provide insights to senior stakeholders, and manage highly sensitive confidential matters.
• Support high‑level strategy for ANZ’s regulatory relationships and oversee a small team dedicated to regulatory engagement.

Required profile

• Proven experience in regulatory risk, compliance or related risk management within a banking environment.
• Strong ability to engage senior executives and external regulators with sound judgement.
• Demonstrated track record of managing confidential and high‑impact regulatory matters.
• Leadership experience overseeing a small team.
